Allendale United Methodist Church was born in 1924, as a mission church plant to serve a new home development in Northeast St. Petersburg. Even though it is over 88 years later, our desire to reach out in love and hope remains strong.
At Allendale United Methodist Church,
• We are working intentionally to become fully devoted followers
of Jesus Christ.
• We seek to live in peaceful and joyful relationship with God,
others, and our true self.
• We are modern day missionaries, serving as agents of positive change in the lives
of those we love, our community and the world.
• We are an intergenerational church, socio-economically diverse, with a faith family
of persons at all points in their faith journey.
• We are Christians who are excited to be part of the United Methodist Church.
What is a United Methodist?
United Methodists are the second largest Protestant denomination in America. United Methodists hold to the historic doctrines of the Christian faith. We are evangelical, but moderates rather than fundamentalists. We value the intellect and modern science, while at the same time looking to the Bible as the authoritative guide for faith and practice. Methodists have a passionate faith with strong convictions, but we also recognize that the world is not always black and white. We are willing to ask questions, to wrestle with difficult issues, and to do so with grace and compassion.
Methodists have been known for our emphasis on a personal faith, lived out in concrete ways in the world. We have historically valued well-informed and passionate preaching, worship that was lively, and small groups where people could grow in faith.
Methodists have open hearts, open minds, and open doors. We welcome anyone interested in learning more about the Christian faith.

Love God. Love Others. Serve All.
The Word of God is at the center of our mission statement. "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10:27
God has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice (Serve All), and to love kindness (Love Others), and to walk humbly with your God (Love God)? Micah 6:8
Our mission statement is also our method for making disciples. It's what we do and how we do it. We expect persons to grow from being new believers to being mature disciples of Jesus Christ serving in the world. In order for persons to grow in faith, at minimum they need to be regular in worship (Love God), part of an small group (Love Others), and have a place to exercise their faith regularly in volunteer work (Serve All). This service might be out in the community (Salty Service) or within the church family (Pepper Service).
While we love God with the whole of our lives, that love is regularly and uniquely expressed in corporate worship. While we love others with the whole of our lives, meeting regularly with other believers in a small group teaches us the true meaning of community as we study the Bible together, pray together, and support one another. While serving is an expression of loving God and loving others, volunteer work is the God- given place where we best exercise that love and make it real.
How our Mission Becomes Action
Are you hungry? Just as your body needs nourishment to grow, so does our soul. God provides this nourishment through worship, small group study, and service. We were made to come together for mutual support and council so we may then move out to share the love and Good News of Jesus in practical and relevant ways. It's a natural pattern, just like breathing in and breathing out.
