Especially For Children

We’re glad you’re here! The children’s ministry of Allendale United Methodist Church is a place where faith, fun, and learning go hand in hand. Through creative, active, age-appropriate, and Bible based experiences, children are guided and encouraged to grow in their faith and become deeply committed followers of Jesus Christ.

We joyfully serve infants through 5th graders in our children’s program. Whether you are a first time visitor or have been here many years, we pray you will feel the love of Christ as you enter our doors. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sunday School News

Fall is in full swing and in Sunday School we are learning all about the "Adventures of Moses". There is so much to teach about Moses that we are only hitting some of the "biggies". The birth of Moses, Moses and the burning bush, one of our favorites: the crossing of the Red Sea, the quails and manna and another favorite: the Ten Commandments.

Moses has a lot to teach the kids about the goodness and faithfulness of God and his patience for us. God saved Moses from certain death; God chose Moses to lead his people out of Egypt and God would be with him as Moses faced Pharaoh. To help the children remember the stories of Moses there are crafts such as weaving a basket, dramas, "Red Sea" snack, movies, and science experiments: growing mold (how fun is that) for all to enjoy. But most important we, as teachers, pray that the kids will some day see that God is with them every step of the way.

Advent and Christmas are just around the corner and we are looking forward to preparing the kids for this wonderful time of the year. Stay tuned for what is in store for the New Year.

Children in Worship

Children are welcome at all our worship services here at Allendale. We think church should be intergenerational so don’t worry if your little one is a little noisy or wiggly.

If you prefer, a free nursery is also provided for children up to age five on Sunday mornings. Children age 0-2 meet in the crib nursery. The crib nursery is located near the back parking lot, between the sets of double glass doors. Children age 2-5 attend the toddler nursery, located down the sidewalk from the crib nursery in room 107. A free nursery is also provided for midweek activities upon request.

Children’s Choir

Children’s Choir is available for K-5th graders on Sunday mornings during the 9am Contemporary Worship Service. Children’s Choir Members begin the service with their families then leave with the choir leaders during the greeting time for choir practice. (9:20am-10am in the choir room) Following the rehearsal /service, children are picked up by their parents or may be taken to their Sunday morning small group. The Children’s Choir is featured every 4-6 weeks in both worship services.

Sunday Morning Small Groups for Children

The Bible is taught every week through exciting storytelling and great crafts. Throughout the year children are also given a chance to put their faith into action by participating in age-appropriate service projects.

All of our Children’s Small Groups meet Sunday mornings from 10:00am-11:00am.

The Allendale Children’s Center provides day care for children ages 2-5 years.
Open Monday-Friday, 6:30am - 5:30pm, Year Round.
