Music is a fundamental part of worship at Allendale. We embrace music of many styles, including classical, contemporary, choral, and instrumental music. Our current musical groups and activities include:

Chancel Choir
This choral group provides music leadership at our traditional service at 11:00 am, leading the congregation in hymn singing, and performing anthems and other choral works. The Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Choir Room. Persons of all musical abilities are welcome to join throughout the year.

Lighthouse Praise Band
This dynamic band provides music leadership at our contemporary service at 9:00 am, leading the congregation in singing praise songs and performing contemporary Christian specials. Entrance into this group is by audition.

Children’s Choir
Children’s Choir is available for K-5th graders on Sunday mornings during the 9am Contemporary Worship Service. Children’s Choir Members begin the service with their families then leave with the choir leaders during the greeting time for choir practice. (9:20am-10am in the choir room) Following the rehearsal /service, children are picked up by their parents or may be taken to their Sunday morning small group. The Children’s Choir is featured every 4-6 weeks in both worship services during the school year.

Youth Band
The Youth Band (presently on hiatus) is open to students grades 6-12, and performs occasionally in worship.

Soloists/Instrumentalists
We are blessed at Allendale to have several talented soloists and instrumentalists who enhance our musical worship experience through performance on piano, organ, trumpet, flute, voice, guitar, saxophone and bass. It is also our joy to encourage newer players to share their talents in worship. Our soloists and instrumentalists perform at both the contemporary and traditional services throughout the year. Persons interested in sharing their talent in worship are encouraged to contact Sandy Ross, Director of Music at 727-527-6694.

Music Lessons: Beginning in the summer of 2008, individual private music lessons will be offered. It is our dream to one day offer a year round Academy of Sacred Arts which will provide learning and performance opportunities for vocalists, instrumentalists, and other artists.
