Dear friend,
Jeni Lyn Smagacz is preparing to move her family across the country for a job opportunity in California. We are grateful for her 12 years of dedicated service as Director of our Children’s Center. We pray for safety and as she makes this move and for exuberance in her new role.
On Monday at a called Church Council meeting, the church body and representatives from the Preschool Board reached a consensus to close the Children’s Center. We are unable to operate the center without a licensed director and class sizes have not recovered from the pandemic.
The Children’s Center has been open for decades and has served thousands of children and their families. We are thankful for the legacy of our center and for the many teachers, assistants, administrators, and others who have served over the years.
Jeni has worked with directors of other facilities to help get the families of our Children’s Center placed in other preschools in the community.
The Church Council will hold another special meeting on Thu Sep 29 at 7 PM to discuss options for how to use the Children’s Center space in it’s next season of ministry.
