The Bellringer: Ringing against Injustice

Thursday, December 15, 2022

Dear friend,

I wanted to highlight a few events coming up that you will want to be a part of:

  • This Saturday at 10 AM is BRUNCH WITH SANTA. To purchase a $5 ticket, go to www.allendaleumc.org/santa, or you can volunteer by emailing theresa@allendaleumc.org. Our worship song leader Dylan will be our Santa this year!
  • This Sunday bring in some of your favorite cookies for a COOKIE EXCHANGE. We’ll exchange Christmas cookies during lunch following worship. You’ll be able to take some cookies even if you don’t bring any!
  • This Sunday following the 10:30 AM worship service is a SOULFOOD LUNCH. To purchase meal tickets, go to www.allendaleumc.org/soul. Following the lunch at 1 PM is the CELEBRATION OF LIFE for Keith Glasscock. Read Keith’s obituary at www.allendaleumc.org/keith.
  • Wednesday, Dec 21 at 6 PM is our LONGEST NIGHT SERVICE for those grieving or sad in this Christmas season. It is also an opportunity to come and be present with our siblings who need community.
  • Friday, Dec 23 at 6 PM is our Christmas Eve Eve IMPROMPTU PAGEANT. Come enjoy the joy of children as they dress up as whatever nativity character they want to in order to tell us the Christmas story as its never been told before.
  • Saturday, Dec 24 at 6 PM is our CHRISTMAS EVE CAROLS AND CANDLELIGHT service. Hear the Christmas story again with carols and conclude with an outdoor candlelight Silent Night.
  • Sunday, Dec 25, at 10:30 AM, we will gather for worship on Christmas morning. Come in your pajamas if you want. Children are invited to bring a favorite toy to show and tell. We will have a hot cocoa station!

I hope this holiday is one of peace and holiness for you and your family!

Meal Train for the Baxla family

During December, the Allendale community is showing love to Loren and Donna Baxla by bringing or sending meals. Loren and Donna are longstanding members of Allendale and have served our community in so many ways. Right now they are facing some health challenges that make cooking meals difficult. This meal train is a simple but meaningful way to serve them back and show our love. Gift cards for delivery services and restaurants are also welcome

Keith Glasscock

Prayers for Jonna and all of Keith Glasscock’s family on his passing December 4. A service for Keith will be held at Allendale on Sunday, December 18, at 1 PM. There will be a meal beforehand.

Get meal tickets at www.allendaleumc.org/soul.

Brunch with Santa

Christmas is the best time to visit Santa! Join Santa for a delicious brunch buffet on Saturday, December 17, from 10 AM-12 PM in the Community Center. There will be food, crafts, reindeer games, and pictures with Santa! Tickets are $5 or whatever you can afford!

Get tickets at www.allendaleumc.org/santa.

Longest Night

We will gather in the Sanctuary Wednesday, December 21, at 6 PM, for a Worship Service on the Winter Solstice (the longest period of darkness all year), specifically creating space for grief, sadness, loss, and hope.

Impromptu Christmas Pageant

Join us on Christmas Eve eve, Friday, December 23, at 6 PM. Children participate in telling the Christmas story dressed up in whatever costume they would like! Borrow one of our animal or nativity costumes, or bring your own. The Christmas story is meant for everyone! It will be chaotic, messy, and beautiful, just like when Jesus was born.

Christmas Eve Carols & Candlelight

Join us on Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec 24, at 6 PM. Hear the Christmas story again with carols and concluding with and outdoor candlelight Silent Night.
