This literary exploration challenges us to see the sacred worth in all people and the world, echoing our welcome statement’s affirmation that everyone is a beloved child of God, deserving of love and acceptance without exclusion.
Through Celie’s journey from pain to empowerment, and her conversations with Shug about the nature of God and love, we are inspired to foster a community that celebrates diversity, questions injustice, and seeks to heal wounds inflicted by exclusion and prejudice. This service is an act of solidarity, a declaration that we stand with the marginalized and the oppressed, and a reaffirmation of our commitment to building a sanctuary where the love of God is manifested in our love for each other.
