The next 4 weeks is “Advent,” a season of endings and beginnings. Christ’s birth ushers us into new ways of living and loving; and yet, the world as we know it spins madly on. When we ourselves navigate seasons filled with endings and beginnings, we need reminders. We need words that can feel like steady ground, like a path for our feet to find as we step forward into the unknown.

Our Advent series is filled with blessings, with the words we need to hear again and again as we begin a new season. We invite you to enter this Advent season as if you are entering a sacred new chapter, holding fast to the reminders that will bolster you for the journey ahead. As you journey through this season, may you find words for belovedness and hope. May you find words for beginning again. For no matter what you are facing, no matter what this new day brings, love is your beginning.

The United Women in Faith are selling bags of fresh jumbo pecans. Buy a one-pound bag for $13. Proceeds go toward UWF work for missions with women, children, and youth. Stop by our table after Worship on Dec 1 to pick up your pecans.

Celebrate Outreach – “Still No Room in the Inn”
Caroling at Homeless Shelters

Join Celebrate Outreach for their 34th annual “Still No Room in the Inn” carol sing from 7-9 PM on Friday, December 6. Carolers begin at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 100 Mirror Lake Drive N. in St. Petersburg 33701, sing at homeless shelters and other sites in downtown St. Petersburg, and return to the church for cookies and hot chocolate! This delightful event is an annual holiday tradition for many in the Tampa Bay area. People of all ages, professions, economic conditions, religious beliefs, and singing abilities carol together, united by the belief that everyone should have decent housing. Celebrate Outreach is a coalition of St. Petersburg area faith-based organizations working to end homelessness in St. Petersburg.

“Still No Room in the Inn” takes its name from the Christmas story, when Jesus of Nazareth was born as a homeless refugee and placed in an animal’s feeding trough because there was “no room in the inn” for him and his family. The caroling is a reminder that two thousand years after the first Christmas there is “still no room in the inn” for many people in St. Petersburg.
