Ash Wednesday is next week which marks the beginning of Lent, the 40 days before Easter. I hope you will stop by in the morning for ashes between the hour of 8-9 AM outside by the marquee, and join us for our Ash Wednesday worship service at 6 PM. The service will be live-streamed here.
It strikes me today that the liturgy of Ash Wednesday teaches something that nearly everyone can agree on. Whether you are part of a church or not, whether you believe today or your doubt, whether you are a Christian or an atheist or an agnostic or a so-called “none” (whose faith experiences far transcend the limits of that label), you know this truth deep in your bones: “Remember that you are dust and to dust you will return.”
Death is a part of life. My prayer for you this season is that you make time to celebrate that reality, and to grieve that reality, and that you will know you are not alone. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Amazon Smile: Allendale United Methodist Church
MEET OUR NEW STAFF MEMBER: Cameron Helwege, Creative Director
Cameron (he/him) grew up in Manatee County Florida and focused his education on Television Production, Theater Technology, and Graphic Design. On weekends he would attend Church and Youth Group at Harvest United Methodist Church in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, eventually joining their staff coordinating their Media team. He also worked during the week as a video editor at Manatee Educational Television and spent his summers serving as a camp counselor at Warren Willis United Methodist Camp and Conference Center.
In 2013, after feeling called to leave his hometown and explore life in another state, Cameron moved to South Georgia to a small town outside of Savannah. He joined the staff of Statesboro First United Methodist Church and served there for more than 8 years. During his time in Georgia, he worked on creative projects, designed and oversaw the installation of sound, lighting, video, and security systems at the church, coordinated equipment rentals for special events, designed artwork for sermon series, special events, and the church’s website & phone/tablet/tv apps. He also worked on many video projects for that church and other churches in the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Now, Cameron returns to Florida joining the staff here at Allendale in a move that also brings him closer to his family.
