The Bellringer: Ringing against Injustice

Friday, September 2, 2022

Dear friend,

Allendale depends on different types of people to use their gifts to serve to make us a better community. We hope you will consider self-nominating to serve on a lay leadership team for 2023.

Here are the leadership teams and a brief description of what the team does:

Trustees – supervises and maintains all property belonging to the congregation so that the ministries and communities who use our property can be effective and comfortable. This team also determines future capital improvement projects.

Finance – raises, oversees, and distributes the financial resources of the congregation to support the annual budget and strengthen the mission and ministry of this congregation. This team builds the annual budget.

Staff Parish Relations – supports the pastor and other staff so that they can work effectively in leading and serving the ministries of your congregation. This team determines staffing needs and personnel policies.

Church Council – serves as the executive agency of the church, leading the congregation in long-range planning and decision making, developing programs, and evaluating the effectiveness of the ministry and mission of the congregation.

Nominations – develops the leadership team roster from members of the congregation. This year’s Nominations committee will meet Tue Sep 13 at 6 PM.

Visit www.allendaleumc.org/nominations
to fill out your self-nomination before Sep 13.

Mike Fitzgerald

It’s with great sadness that we share with you the passing of Michael Fitzgerald. He and his wife Terry were very active members of Allendale before moving to Mexico. Mike suffered from dementia, lung cancer, and Parkinson’s. According to his wife, Mike had a “good death”.
Terry has asked for prayers. You can send her condolences at healthywoman71@gmail.com.

Terry is planning a celebration of life at Allendale on
Saturday, October 1 with a service at 11 AM and a meal to follow.

Homeless Breakfast: Serve local community

Celebrate Outreach needs your support as their outreach grows. Each Saturday morning the nonprofit supplies 100-160 bagged meals to those living without shelter, as well as those experiencing food insecurity within St. Pete. They serve from Praise the Lord Outreach Ministries, 900 MLK Street South, St. Petersburg FL 33705.

In addition to a hot meal, CO provides non-perishable packaged food, toiletries, and gently used clothing, (particularly men’s). Socks and underwear are especially in demand. Each Saturday volunteers arrive at 7:30 AM to package and serve food; they finish serving by 9:30 AM. All are welcome.

Those who complete the four week training class earn a brand new sewing machine. RAMWI would also like to supply each woman with their own tool kit to use at home.
