Dear friend,
This Sunday, Rev. David Franks is preaching at Allendale.
David has been leading a Queer Theology Class with Erica George on Wednesday Nights, exploring the intersection of religion, sexuality, and gender identity.
Queer Theology challenges heteronormative views and seeks to create a space for LGBTQ+ individuals and communities to engage with religion on their own terms. Queer theology affirms the full humanity and dignity of LGBTQ+ people within the context of religion and spirituality.
The latest session of the class examined the seven passages of scripture that have been used to condemn homosexuality, examining the historical and cultural contexts in which the scriptures were written to understand their original intended meanings and how they have been reinterpreted and used over time to cause harm.
For those who have missed the classes or are unable to attend in person, we are recording them and plan to release everything after Easter.

IT’s TIME TO SPRING FORWARD
March 12 at 2 AM
Daylight Savings Time Begins
The second Sunday in March marks the beginning of Daylight Savings Time. Be sure to set your clocks forward one hour before you go to sleep on Saturday night. Worship on Sunday will start at its usual time; however, if you forget to adjust your clocks, you may end up arriving an hour late.
We’ll be in Daylight Savings Time until November 5, 2023, when clocks will “fall” back an hour to begin Standard Time.

LENT SERIES AT ALLENDALE
This Lent, may you engage in the spiritual practice of seeking—by asking questions, and by staying curious, open, and nimble. We hope you will soften your assumptions and expand your perspectives. We pray that these questions will create a safe space to explore—to be drawn more deeply into the fullness of life, into the heart of God.
A devotional booklet is available in the Sanctuary at Allendale for you to take and use throughout the season. A digital version is also available here:
