Dear friend,
Here are some things going on in the world of Methodism we think you’ll find interesting. Allendale is having an impact across the denomination!
DISCERNING A MINISTRY ROLE:
Save the date for Saturday, August 17 for a special day of discernment with Deaconess Megan Hale. Deaconesses and Home Missioners are laypeople who are called by God to be in a lifetime relationship in The United Methodist Church for engagement with a full-time vocation in ministries of love, justice, and service. Together they: alleviate suffering, eradicate causes of injustice and all that robs life of dignity and worth, facilitate the development of full human potential, and share in the building global community through the church universal. This is for those curious and seeking to serve the church more intentionally as a layperson. Learn more at www.allendaleumc.org/dhm
WESLEY WORKS DIGITIZATION PROJECT:
Allendale’s very own Michelle Taylor has been working on an important project based on the founder of the Methodist movement, John Wesley.
The Wesley Works Editorial Project is a long-term scholarly endeavor to digitize and edit the complete works of John Wesley. This project, which has been running for 60 years, aims to create a comprehensive digital archive of Wesley’s writings. It involves meticulous scholarly editing to ensure accuracy and accessibility of these texts for digital publication.
Michelle Taylor was approached to contribute to this project due to her background in digital humanities and her experience in preparing religious scholarly texts for digital publication. As “Director of the Digitization Project,” Her role in the project involves overseeing the digitization and scholarly editing of these works. This opportunity allows her to unite her academic interests with her professional skills, fulfilling a significant scholarly and personal aspiration.
