Christmas Tree Lot

Physical requirements:

Ability to stand or sit outside for a time frame of 4 hours

Duties:

In charge of transactions with the customers for their purchases

Counting the petty cash and securely depositing it in the church office at the end of the night

Making sure the customers know where the string is 

Allendale helpers are unable to tie down trees for the customers. We can help customers put the tree on their car’s roof but we cannot be liable for the tree security. The cashier should be aware that this does not happen. 

During down time, additional duties that may be done are: 

restock the water and snacks for the workers

check on tree water levels

Physical requirements 

Heavy lifter/able body needed. Will need to be able to carry trees ranging in 4ft-9ft. 

We will group up people to help grab the bigger trees, youth can not carry trees over 5 ft by themselves. 

Duties:

When a customer finds a tree, remove it from the spot and bring it to the chainsaw area

Cut the bottom end of the tree trunk and trim branches per the customer’s preference

Net the tree (only trees under 6 ft tall can be wrapped in the netting)

Carry the tree to the customer’s vehicle

Restock when trees get sold

Restocking includes removing the tree from the barn, hammering it into the tree stand, and putting in the correct spot

(this is a great job for our youngest members)

Physical requirements

Able to bend up and down 

Use box cutters or scissors 

Duties

Remove the string wrapped around the trees when they are first put on display

Shake the trees to help allow the branches fall to their natural place

Add water to the stands when restocking trees

Physical requirements: 

Must be over the age of 18 and responsible enough to use heavy machinery 

Duties

Cut off the end of the tree trunk and trim branches with the clippers per customer’s preference

able to stand at a table to create the wreaths 

Duties

Organize the tree clippings and use the wreath maker to create the wreaths for sale

Duties

once the wreaths are made, use what supplies are available to decorate the wreaths for sale

Duties

Unload the trees from the semi-truck

A group of 2-3 to measure the trees and drill the holes in the tree trunks

Then move the trees to the barn and organize by size

(to be done when opening and/or closing for the day)

Opening the lot

Get the snacks/water and petty cash from the office

Roll up the tarps on the display tents

Get the needed equipment set up (sawhorses, chainsaw, clippers, wreath-making table, etc.) 

Turn on the open sign

Turn on the lights when needed (dusk), including the Christmas lights

Closing the lot 

Make sure every tree stand has a tree in it and are placed in the proper row by size

Make sure there is water in every tree stand 

Spray the trees in the barn and the wreaths with water

Count the petty cash and lock it in the office

Put any remaining snacks in the office

Place all equipment in the locked area

Close the tarps down around the display tent so the trees don’t get sun burned 

Take the trash to the dumpster

Unplug the lights 

Close the fence and lock with a chain

Duties

Help put together the 5 tents that hold the trees available for sale

Set up the barn that holds all the trees

Set up the security fencing

metal poles in the parking lot 

wrap wire fencing around the entire tree area 

Set up the lights and the extension cords for the lot

Roll up the tarp shades

Make sure all the equipment works (chainsaws, lights, etc.)

Duties

Pack up the lot by doing the reverse of set up

Clean up all the tree clippings and place in dumpster
